Congratulations on selecting to grow your own business. With over 28 years of being in business, let me first start off by saying that the things that make you up will be carried into your business. I will say, do not hide the things that make you up. If your belief system is important to you, you need to allow that to come out in your business. I do not care if you are a realtor, insurance agent, network marketer, or a small business owner, you have to let what is important come out. You should have a mission statement about your business. If your faith is important to you, you probably do not want to work with someone with values that do not match up to yours. In 2 Cor 6:14, it talks and says do not be yoked to someone that is not like you.
Be careful and work with business mentors that can help you grow. I have heard many leaders mentoring others in business, they get so passionate about their business that they will tell you all people are for your business. Now, in the network marketing or direct sales businesses, this is done more often, and the focus is left to get more people promoting and selling your stuff. In small businesses, real estate and insurance, they feel their stuff is meant for everyone. This can not be further from the truth. As I said, not everyone has a want, need or desire for what you have. You need to target your markets and find a way that attraction marketing can assist you with your customers, business partners and potentially your staff. Since I love to fish, I find talking and relating business back to what we do. Now, if you wanted to feed your family, what would you do? Using what has been taught, all fish would be what you want so you could feed your family. Now, if you go to a lake and take a small hook with some bread, sure you may catch lots of real small fish, but you may have to through them all back. However, you may take a larger hook with a larger bait and you could catch larger fish that would meet your need. Now, in this scenario, you will see that not every fish is what you want. You must use attraction marketing techniques that will attract what you want and will meet your needs.
As I said earlier, a lot of direct sales and network marketing companies talk about finding distributors and they lose focus on customers. Now, if you have all fishermen, and no customers, you have a boat of rotten fish. Now, if you do not get customers, your business will not grow. If you only go for the small fish, you will not see your business grow either.
If you want to grow your business, use the priciples of attraction marketing and who you plan to attract will be with in your mission statement. Hold on to your values, because if you want someone to value your business, you are the core of that business!
